Introducing Simon Furniture Design and a new range of wonderful pieces of furniture individually designed and created by Simon Lowe.
Simon has spent a fascinating life across the world developing exceptional wood and metal working skills. He learnt first through designing and rebuilding his river boat and then worked as a shipwright on some of the world's most famous yachts. He developed his talent for designing and creating beautiful things by funding himself through the Master of Fine Arts Furniture Design program at the Rhode Island School of Design. “What Light There Was” Collection, New England 2013
The “What Light There Was” Collection, New England 2013, is inspired by two years I have spent in Providence RI. Having arrived from the Caribbean, I realised that light and space are precious wherever there is a long winter. I have designed and made three tables, a chair and a door which celebrate light, air, movement, gesture and the space between things. Each was crafted from locally sourced, sustainable materials, with the use of an innovative combination of the most modern computer assisted fabrication and exceptional hand skills.
